Head Coach Oliver Background

Born and raised in Hertfordshire, England, I founded Hong Kong Kinetic Personal Training Services upon the conclusion of my Master's degree at City University of Hong Kong, to share my passion for sports and fitness.

I hold a Sport Leaders Level 3 qualification, as well as an A grade in A-level Sport Science. My true sporting knowledge, however, comes from the breadth of my experience.

Rugby is my main sport, which I have played since the age of six. In my youth, I represented the Saracens Academy, Hertfordshire County, Welsh Students RL, and Welsh Exiles. Since then, I have played semi-professional rugby for numerous clubs, including West Wales Raiders, London Broncos Reserves, and Trebanos RFC.

I also received rugby scholarships to Haileybury for my sixth-form studies, Swansea University for my undergraduate degree, and City University of Hong Kong for my Master’s degree.

During secondary school, I was also an avid athlete. I placed second in my district cross-country competition and, in later years, went on to win the district shot put title and finish second at county level. I also represented my school in pole vault for several years and was part of a team which when to the national finals, where I competed in shot put and the 100m. My secondary school, Hitchin Boys' School, excelled in both athletics and rugby.

Throughout my youth, I also played a considerable amount of football, often representing my primary school team. However, despite my love for football, rugby took precedence as I grew older. During my school years, I also played a significant amount of hockey and squash.

Since 2024, I have become an avid grappler, training in judo, BJJ, and wrestling. I now hold a blue belt in both judo and BJJ, and recently won the Hong Kong Students Judo Competition.

Currently, my main areas of personal development are judo and BJJ.
